Florence Cafe

florence cafe - St James Street, King's Lynn, Norfolk

Over the half term week, we have been spending time in the historic town of King's Lynn. The trip was mainly for sorting out the family home, ready to be rented out. Since being away, we have realised just how much we took for granted the historic town, with all its culinary delights.

Unfortunately the main high street has been mostly taken up with chain cafe's and restaurants. So whenever we are in the area we always try to escape the hustle and bustle of shoppers and head for this little old fashioned tea rooms.

The cafe is decorated in pastel colours and accessorised with antique bone china tea cups, all in a variety of colours, shapes and patterns. The cafe is a bit bigger than meets the eye, with tables upstairs as well as outside for those summery days.

The menu is varied from sandwiches, panini's, soup, quiche and cakes. I hold a special soft spot for their coffee and walnut cake, but unfortunately there was not a single slice left this time. Instead I opted for a lemon drizzle cake, which was just as satisfying for my sweet tooth. Florence's also has the widest range of tea's we have ever seen from earl grey to peppermint.  You can also purchase from their range of home made jams and pickles.

This quiet little cafe is perfect for escaping the overrated prices of certain cafe chains, and a great place to enjoy some genuine home made service.
